Nicolas Carrasco (clarinet)
A native of Valdivia, Chile, Nicolas began his musical studies at the age of six at the Colegio de Musica J.S. Bach. He continued his studies in Santiago, Chile with Jorge Levin, principal clarinet of the Santiago Philharmonic. At the age of 18, Nicolas won the principal clarinet position of the National Youth Orchestra of Chile, where he appeared as a soloist several times throughout the country, as well as performing in the first diplomatic European tour. Since 2011, Nicolas has been connected with the Musica Mundi International Chamber Music Festival in Brussels, Belgium. He flourished as a student, and later was promoted as part of the young faculty members. Nicolas began his active orchestral career at a young age having participated in numerous youth and professional orchestras. Recently appeared as a soloist on a tour with the Chamber Orchestra of Chile and performed in the AIMS Orchestra of the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. He has also worked under the baton of world-renowned conductors such as Andreas Delfs, Marzio Conti, Leonardo Vordoni, Lukas Beikircher, Marius Stieghorst, Paavo Järvi and Gustavo Dudamel. Nicolas was sponsored by the HADA Foundation to pursue his Bachelor and currently his Master of Music at The Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University as a student of the famous Ricardo Morales, principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
